Carlos Mencia talks about his TV show · 556 days ago by Mind of Jencia
Now that Carloses show “Mind of Mencia” has just wrapped up its 2nd season as Comedy Centrals #2 show based on rating, just below “South Park”, Carlos Mencia managed to take some time off from his trek around North America doing stand up comedy to talk to Sean McCarthy of the Boston Hearld.
When asked about what segment of the population is usually his audience, Carlos Mencia replied ‘‘The diversity of my audience is so stunning now, it’s amazing, it’s beyond crossover. I’ve actually become a voice for white America. I’m stunned myself, It just seems no one wants to say the things that are on people’s minds, and it just seems to be resonating even more in the white communities than in the minority communities, which is really weird.”
Now we all know that because of Carlos willingness to speak his mind about topics most people see as taboo his careers sucess have come at the cost of upset fans and insults from much of the rest of the comedy community, some even going so far as to accuse him of “joke stealing” a definate no-no in the industry.
But Carlos Mencia shrugs off the harsh words of his own industry saying ‘‘It’s no different from every other comic who has made it successfully, the comedians that comedians think are great are either dead or not very popular, or very old”
He also added ‘‘I’m not worried when other comics don’t like me. I’m worried when people don’t like me. . . . They’re the ones who make your show. They’re the ones who pay to see you, who go to see your movies.”
Overall I think Carlos is a very down to earth person, despite what people may often say about him he doesn’t come across as purposefully racist or evil, he’s just someone who makes a living by repeating the words we all already think and just making them funny, in a way he kind of diffuses the comments with humour as opposed to saying them in a hateful way!

Mencia invites protesters to a free show · 563 days ago by Mind of Jencia
In what was obviously a brilliant move, if not a bit upsetting for paying fans, Carlos invited protesters outside his show last night in for a free show!
It all started when fans lined up to enter his show just outside of Assembly Hall, unfortunately their to greet them as they waited were 6 Latino’s and memebers of the local students association obviously upset about the comedians politically incorrect jokes!
The protesters weren’t saying anything negative about Carlos Mencia however they did shout things such as “We’re just raising awareness,” “Learn our culture before you laugh at it,” “Where are Mencia’s Mexican fans?”, “Who does Carlos Mencia cater to?”, and “We’re not laughing with you.”
Mohammad Rasool, President of the local students association, was standing with the protesters saying “Carlos Mencia makes a mockery of different cultures, and takes his entire sense of humor and makes it ridicule instead of humor … so he is using the social situation of America against the people that he is making jokes about”
Seeing the protesters outside of his show, Carlos went outside, escorted by security, and spoke with them offering them free tickets to the show saying “Go in there, go in there, and watch the show, and at the end of it we’ll have this conversation, and then you’re gonna say, ‘I didn’t know.’”
The protesters agreed and made their into Assembly Hall, but Mohammad was qouted saying “I’ve seen more than a majority of his television shows, and I don’t know if this is going to be any different or if he is going to put his performance into a positive light for the community,” on his way into the show.
On the way out Mohammad said “None of our ideas really even changed at all, and in fact, it really just solidified them, because it was exactly the same as his previous stand up and his television show.”
I’m pretty sure that Carlos Mencia didn’t invite them into the show to change their minds, he invited them in so their wouldn’t be protesters outside his show greeting his audience, reguardless of his true intentions he did something different.

Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached - Reviewed · 568 days ago by Mind of Jencia
Recently we got our hands on a copy of Carlos Mencia’s new comedy DVD release entitled “Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached: Live, Extended and Uncensored” and figured hey maybe some fans sitting on the fence about buying his release would like a review.
That and we were bored…
Anyways we put the Dvd in our player and the first thing I noticed while watching the comedy spots was just how effortless he pulled off the comedy, most people on stage sound like they invented the material in someones basement repeating it over and over until someone laughed but not Carlos Mencia, when he speaks it comes across as if he just walked on stage and started inventing new material off the top of his head.
Now my girlfriend generally doesn’t get into comedy very much but I noticed her laughing constantly throughout this DVD, later I asked her what about “No Strings Attached” she found so hilarious and she replied “I understood all the jokes”, thats when it hit me… He’s not just funny the content is 100% relateable to our own lives and its always accessible.
Just a word of warning to you fancy Widescreen HDTV folks, this DVD comes in full screen only, which is great for me but bad for you.
The sound quality was the usual Dolby Digital faire and you could always hear what he was saying.
My only compliant would be with the extras, rather then having some behind the scenes tour clips or interviews he chose to focus on his custom motorcycle and it really felt like an episode of American Chopper as they visited the garage it was made in etc.. Some fans will find that interesting but most won’t.
Anyways I would give it a definate two thumbs up!

TMZ gets to look at Mencia's Motorcycles · 575 days ago by Mind of Jencia
Noone will ever call Carlos Mencia a subtle person, whether it be his custom built motorcycles or his sick tour bus with his face plastered on every side, recently TMZ had the chance to take a camera crew to see his tour bus to see how Mencia travels around North America in style.
When the TMZ camera crew showed up outside Los Angeles’s Gibson Theatre, Carlos managed to take a few minutes and show them around his tour bus, as the camera crew entered the bus their jaws collectively dropped. The bus comes complete with an Xbox entertainment system, iPod hookups and a total of 12, yes 12, beds all neatly lined up and as Carlos put it they are just “big enough to fit you, on top of somebody.”
Very Cool!
